It is shocking how literal that title probably is, because I'll probably hike Lookout soon and shout this because I'm so excited. Right now, however, I'm settling for shouting it all over the internet:
I AM DIRECTING TONGUES BY SAM SHEPARD AND JOSEPH CHAIKIN NEXT SEMESTER.
I realize that most people reading this don't know this play, but you have heard me go on and on about voice work. This is a play about the voice, and it was love at first read when I came across it in History of Directing last fall. I did my huge final Script Analysis presentation about it. It's basically the perfect piece for me to start exploring the voice/directing connection. I was almost positive they'd approve it, but getting the official e-mail sent uncontrollable fountains of joy spewing from me and into the lobby of Assembly Inn.
